How to Refresh Your Faith
🧑🏼🏫Formulas? Got any?🤔
How about: If A=B, B=C, then A=C
Remember this one from Algebra I class?
👨🏻⚕️🧑🏾🚀👩🏻🏭🧑🏿💻Formulas work well in math, in science, even in grammar…because God designed them to work in harmony with the order of the Universe He created. God is a God of order.
📖 I’ve been reading through the Old Testament and this week I am in the book of Isaiah.
👀Upon reading Isaiah 29, verse 13 actually addresses how He designed how our worship, our heart allegiance, to work. And it is clearly not designed to work by a formula.
And so the Lord says,
“These people say they are mine.
They honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far away.
And their worship of me amounts to nothing more than human laws learned by rote. -Isaiah 29:13 (NLT)
👥 Interestingly, this same topic of “human laws learned by rote” (formula vs faith) had come up in conversation when meeting with my neighborhood discipleship group this past week.
🕵🏼♀️🕵🏾 On the surface, living by “formulas” may sound & look “right,” but a life merely consisting of formalities of formulas is not the way God designed our lives, our hearts, to thrive and function.
✝️ On the contrary, God designed our lives to be lived not by formulas, but by faith…True Biblical faith.
Interestingly enough, we can create a formula to define Biblical Faith—
Confident Obedience that…
+God IS who He says He IS
+God DOES what He says He will DO

✝️TRUE BIBLICAL FAITH✝️
So…In essence, formulas are not bad, or wrong. They help make sense of something and show its order.
♥️✝️♥️ However, the BIG difference between formulas in science, art, grammar, etc and the “formula” of faith is FAITH calls for an inward, personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ who sustains, nurtures and enables one to individually “live out” their unique expression of abiding in Him.
💛Yellow and 💙Blue creates 💚Green.
Period.
🛐 Personal Faith in Christ creates a masterpiece! 🖼
Period. Amen!
Personal Faith in Jesus Christ creates a NEW LIFE which God declares to be a Masterpiece: “ONE OF A KIND.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Our secure relationship with Christ is based solely on Jesus Christ alone, by faith alone. Period. Nothing added. Nothing subtracted.
🪴And yet, the expression of such relationship is Divinely organic: growing and developing, changing and bearing fruit, forever being molded into the likeness of Christ.
📦 So living by rote formulas that “box” our individual growth and expression thwarts God’s Design for our lives.
So what?
So God invites you to put aside the formalities and receive the fresh empowerment from Him to live aligned to your unique God-given design for greatest joy and lasting impact!
🙏🏻Your praying may sound different than others
🎶Your worship may look different than others
🤲🏽Your service may look different than others
👮🏼♂️👨🏽🏫👩🏾🍳👷🏼♂️👨🏾🎨Your abilities may look different than others
🥸🧑🏻🎤🤓👨🏾🎤😎👩🏿🎤🤠Your personality may look different than others
😀😝😩😭🤯😡🥶😰😵💫Your experiences may look different than others
Formulas stay the same.
🌱Faith grows, 🌿changes and 🌳deepens…
…because True Biblical Faith is based on our ever-growing, ever-changing personal response of dependence, obedience and submission to the steadfast, faithful and supremely personal love of our UNchanging God.
