👓Ever read a poem and wondered, “What in the world is this talking about?!”🤷🏽🤷🏻♀️🤷🏼♂️
I have. Especially during my college years sitting in Literature classes. Oh how I hoped the prof wouldn’t call on me to share what I thought the poem was about! 😱🤦🏼♀️
I found, however, that if you take the time to CONSIDER the poet and REFLECT on the subject for which the words he/she were penned, you could begin to get a clearer understanding.
Interestingly...God is into POETRY! And His subject is YOU!
“For we are God's masterpiece.
He has created us anew in Christ Jesus...” Ephesians 2:10
YOU are God’s masterpiece!
As I listened to today's devotional on Lectio 365, the author mentioned "the word [‘masterpiece’] in this passage is actually from the Greek word ‘poiēma’, from which we get the word ‘poem’.
According to the apostle Paul, the life of every believer is a UNIQUE EXPRESSION of God’s masterful, loving creativity."
You & I are God’s poetry!
😓And what do we all too often do? We try copying all the other “poems” around us with the idea that our own unique “poem” is just not good enough.😢
That’s like telling a world-renowned Poet that their poems are lacking.🤭
🙏🏻Lord, Help me to discover a little more of the poetry that You are uniquely writing in and through my life today.
In Jesus name,
Amen
Ever had a poet write a poem about YOU?
Dayna Mazucca, a published poet, has written a poem about me. She wrote it just after God allowed us to meet over Zoom and share our stories together.
